Career Timeline

Eng @Stairwell

Decided to join a startup to work on areas of growth, understanding product market fit, building a brand, acquiring customers and maybe learn a thing or two about cybersecurity.

Now

Eng @Google

Everything about becoming a good engineer & learning how processes can be used to make people and a company more efficient. Got to work with a really high caliber team

Tried Area 120, Won Ads demo days 2 years in a row

2019

Eng @Oracle

Managed projects, people, worked in a high-visibility team that gave me great exposure (like presenting to Thomas Kurian)

Got super into hackathons outside of work - spent ~10 weekends at hackathons that year. Won maybe 6 of them.

2017

Masters @Gatech

Went with the masters route to come to USA. Studied everything I wanted to - data visualization, NLP, finance & started getting drawn into research & academia. Went to conferences, worked with some of best in the data viz field, learnt the process of teaching a course. I missed building for real users so decided to take up an industry job after graduation.

2015

Eng @Walmart

Took up my first real job - came to USA for a project. Realized all good ideas/opportunities are in the USA - atleast back then.

2014

Tea Shack

Started a venture with college friends with the goal to be able to drink good chai outside of our homes. This is before the Chaipoint/Chaayos era when the lack of tea cafes & shops was very visible. Got into a local accelerator. We sold tea & related products at college festivals for about a year or so. Investment to continue after college was high so we all got real jobs.

2012

BS in Computer Science

Took up Computer Science partially because of interest and partially because that is what the straight-A students did. Enjoyed the opportunites that came with it - networking, internships, open-source projects, organizing college events, NGO outreach. Continued design freelancing for sometime.

2010

Design freelancing

Got interested in digital art. Started designing logos, ads, magazines - got many unpaid gigs that at some point got converted to paid projects
